What happens if I never pay?+
Your account moves to the Free plan and stays there for good. Free is not a countdown - you keep college search, your list, the deadline tracker, the match quiz (one run a day), the discovery quizzes for strengths, personality, skills, and learning style, and the resource library with no card on file and no auto-charge. Free: 2 new essays and 2 draft checks a day across all your essays. Essays you started on a trial stay yours to keep editing.
Can I cancel?+
Any time, in two clicks from your account. There is no contract and no cancellation fee. You keep Pro until the end of the month you already paid for, then drop to Free - nothing you created is deleted.
Do I need an account before I pay?+
No. You can pay first and create your account right after - we match the purchase to the email you use at checkout, so Pro is already on when you sign in.
Will my card be charged during the free trial?+
No. The 7-day Pro trial takes no card at all. When it ends we do not charge you - your account simply becomes Free until you choose to upgrade.
Working with a WaveScholar counselor?+
Your counselor's plan includes Pro for you. When your counselor has an active paid WaveScholar plan and you're connected to them, every Pro tool turns on for your account at no cost to you, and you'll see "Pro, sponsored by your counselor" in your account. If their plan ends or you disconnect, your account goes back to Free and everything you've made stays.
What can a parent see?+
A parent sees a read-only view of what their student has. If the student is on Free, that's their college list, deadlines, and the other Free tools. If the student is on Pro, including a trial or a counselor-sponsored plan, the parent sees the Pro views too. Parents of Free students can tap "Upgrade my student" to pay for their student's Pro plan.
Is $34 per month or one time?+
Per month, billed monthly, plus applicable tax shown at checkout. Cancel whenever you are done with applications - most families use Pro for a few months, not a year.
