Neither of my parents attended college, and college itself was not something our family believed in or understood. At 17, I navigated admissions almost entirely on my own. I did not know which deadlines mattered, how to write an essay that still sounded like me, or how to ask for help without feeling like a burden.

That experience led me to a master's degree in school counseling and into high schools, where I worked directly with students on their applications. I saw the gap clearly: school counselors were stretched too thin, while private guidance remained out of reach for many families.

In 2016, I became an Independent Educational Consultant. For more than ten years, I have specialized in UC and CSU admissions alongside highly selective T-20 and Ivy League placement. WaveScholar brings that practical, school-by-school experience into one place every student can use.

I still practice as an independent counselor today. I am NACAC and WACAC certified, reflecting recognized training and ethical standards centered on honesty, student advocacy, and protecting student voice.
